On June 1, 2021, Alexandra Shipp made her sexual orientation public via Instagram. Although she acknowledged being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, she did not state how she identified in her post.

The actor first discussed the difficulties she encountered as a result of her sexual orientation before describing how she eventually came to accept who she truly was.She hasn’t stated whether she is in a relationship or is dating anyone since she came out.

Shipp, though, has previously been connected to a few males. David Anders and James McAvoy were two well-known actors who were said to be her boyfriends.

The Love Life of Alexandra Shipp

Shipp apparently began dating fellow actor Anders in 2011. According to reports, the couple started dating after meeting on a movie shoot. By not outright declaring that they were boyfriend and girlfriend, they kept their relationship out of the public eye.

On June 22, 2013, Anders posted a photo of himself and Shipp to his Twitter account. Shipp’s new romance with McAvoy revealed in 2016, while it is uncertain when they broke up. According to the Daily Mirror, after McAvoy’s divorce, Shipp and McAvoy grew close. They apparently grew close after meeting on the X-Men: Apocalypse set.

The couple had separated, and McAvoy was in the process of divorcing Anne-Marie Duff. He discussed the dissolution of his marriage with the X-Men cast and crew before “striking up a bond” with Shipp.

It’s no huge mystery how they’ve gotten close, an insider told the tabloid. The actor from Split is said to have taken comfort in his co-arms, star’s as the pair were seen cuddling up to one another.

While filming, they became friends and were later said to be dating. McAvoy and Shipp, though, declined to confirm the rumors.

The Sexuality of Alexandra Shipp Is Disclosed

At the age of 28, the Love, Simon star made her acting debut. With a lengthy statement that read, “I’m now ready to embrace my genuine self,” she shared a selfie of herself on social media. Before remembering how terrified she was about coming out, she began with rainbows and variously colored hearts.

She originally denied being gay, according to her stories. She feared it was too late when she felt ready to come out. She battled with being feminine and worried that no one would adore her. At some point, she had had enough of “always being terrified” and “chasing other people’s notions and opinions of who you should be.”

She intended to embrace her sexuality as a result. As soon as she accomplished that, she acknowledged that she felt joy in ways that she didn’t believe her young self could have imagined. She described the sensation as “wonderful,” being able to be who she wanted to be every day.

She advised her followers and supporters that coming out was never too late. She emphasized to them that while fear was always present, conquering it was the true accomplishment. The actress told herself that she was “lucky and appreciative for the kindness” that people had shown her.

Finally accepting who she was made her happy and proud of who she was. She penned, “I’m proud of who I am and what I do for a living. I love LOVE and I am who I am.” She concluded her caption by reassuring herself that she will celebrate each day since she put her needs first.
