Being an on-the-ground reporter, especially during a crisis, can be dangerous. Reporting from the scene of a disaster is an occupational hazard for journalist Jericka Duncan, the American National Correspondent for CBS This Morning.
The Emmy-nominated journalist has covered events such as airline crashes, hurricanes, and shootings from the front lines. She’s also no stranger to large-scale Black Lives Matter protests, even amid a global pandemic.
With Jericka facing such dangers, it’s no surprise that her family, particularly her daughter, Journey, is concerned for her safety. While reporter Duncan is forthright about her daughter’s worries, it’s unclear whether she has a husband waiting for her when she returns home safe from work.
Jericka Duncan gives her thoughts on her daughter’s journey but remains silent about her father
Jericka Duncan, a CBS correspondent, has been tight-lipped about her daughter’s father. She hasn’t confirmed if she is married or not, and if she is, she hasn’t revealed who her husband is. Furthermore, there are no photographs on Jericka’s social media pages that even hint at her love tendencies.
Duncan may have decided to keep that aspect of her life out of the spotlight, but she doesn’t hold back when it comes to expressing her love for her daughter and her father, Ronnie Duncan, a well-known multimedia journalist.
Jericka’s kid has made a few appearances alongside her reporter mother, after the lockdown measures and the ‘work from home’ standard.
Jericka’s family is supportive
Jericka Duncan, an Ohio University graduate, was born on August 12, 1983. Ronnie Duncan and Yvonne Duncan’s eldest child is her.
The Emmy-nominated journalist has been blessed with a supportive family, particularly her father. Ronnie, her father, frequently blogs about his eldest kid, expressing his love for her as well as his delight in her journalist daughter’s accomplishments.
On Jericka’s 36th birthday, August 12, 2019, her father posted a unique message in which he initially wished her. He then went on to say how hardworking Jericka is and how she is a role model for her younger siblings. He also mentioned that she is a wonderful mother to his only granddaughter. Finally, he concluded his message by expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to be her father.
Apart from that, Ronnie is a devoted grandfather who can’t stop himself from lavishing praise on his sole granddaughter, Journey.

As evidenced by Twitter and Facebook posts, he also appears to act as a mentor for young Journey, who is six years old as of 2020. He gives his advice and spends quality time with Journey and Jericka. Ronnie shares a life lesson with his daughter via Facebook in the same post from June 2016:
My Granddaughter, like the Cavaliers, stumbled and rebounded like a true champion. Always stand on your own two feet and never allow anything or anyone to hold you down.
Jericka’s family is worried about her safety
Jericka Duncan, the 2005 NAACP Image Award winner, traverses the world to present the newest news to the audience. And, in the process, people, including reporters, are occasionally injured.
Jericka has covered a variety of major news stories throughout her career, including the deaths of four Marines and a Navy sailor in Chattanooga, the 70th anniversary of D-Day and Normandy, Hurricane Irene, a plane crash near Buffalo, the search for Ralph “Bucky” Phillips—the world’s longest manhunt—and many others.
Her family became very concerned in 2020 when she was assigned to cover the ‘Black Rights Movement’ taking place across the United States. Jericka confessed to MSN.com in an interview released on June 4, 2020, that her daughter and family were concerned about her safety and that they were praying for her.
While it’s natural for loved ones to be concerned about safety, Jericka is fortunate to have a daughter who knows and keeps up with what’s going on in the world, as well as a father who, like her, is a journalist and recognizes the value of her work, according to the MSN feature.
