Mads Mikkelsen is a Copenhagen-born Danish actor who began his career in 1996.

When he made his cinematic debut in 1996, he shot to prominence in Denmark. He portrayed a drug dealer in Nicolas Winding Refn’s critically praised film Pusher, which spawned two sequels. In Danish films, he continued to perform characters that were easy to overlook.

Mikkelsen starred alongside Kim Bodnia in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Bleeder in 1999, and he also collaborated with Stine Stengade and Jana Plodková in Ole Christian Madsen’s award-winning film Prague in 2006.

In 2011, he starred in another box-office hit, ‘The Three Musketeers,’ which received mixed reviews from critics. He did, however, star in The Hunt, for which he was nominated for Best Actor at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

Mikkelsen also acted in the Arctic, a survival thriller directed by Brazilian filmmaker Joe Penna, which was released in 2018. He also joined Doug Liman’s Chaos Walking cast. As can be seen, his career is flourishing, and he is still as relevant and in demand as ever.

Even though it hasn’t released a new film in theaters since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the romance and adventure series that takes its name from Harrison Ford’s renowned character is one of the most dormant franchises.

It was a worldwide success, grossing $1.96 billion. Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been cast as the female lead in the next Indiana Jones picture, while the Lucasfilm production firm has selected Mads Mikkelsen to play Harrison Ford’s next co-star.

After starring in the Fantastic Beasts films, Mikkelsen is joining yet another huge franchise; he succeeds Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, who left the role earlier this year owing to his previous legal difficulties.

Mikkelsen’s Danish film Another Round has been receiving positive reviews. The film was nominated for several Academy Awards, including Best International Feature and Best Director. Mikkelsen was not only nominated for Best Actor at the BAFTAs, but the picture also won Best Film Not in the English Language.
