Tom Oar liked the challenges he faced in Montana’s outdoors, from working in a rodeo circuit in Illinois to spending his days as a commercially tanned mountain man. Nonetheless, he is currently surviving his days off in Montana’s Mountain Yaak Valley, where he is confronting nature.

Oar is most known for his role as a cast member of the History Channel reality series Mountain Guys, which focuses on a group of men living a hand-picked life in isolated locations of the United States.

Age, Family, and Bio

Illinois is where the mountain man was born. Chike Oar, his father, worked for a Wild West show in Illinois and influenced his desire for adventure. He was a horseman, and he taught trick riding to his son Tom and his brother.

Oar became interested in being a rodeo rider after growing up in an adventurous atmosphere. His mother, too, was enthusiastic about his pursuit. She planned to drive him to the outskirts of town, then hitchhike to Ohio with his bull rope and rigging bag. He’d then rent bulls and horses for riding practice.

By the early 1960s, he had established himself as a top rodeo rider in the International Rodeo Association, following his passion. And, until his retirement in 1981, he excelled on the platform.

He currently resides in Montana, where he is one of the mountain men and a real celebrity on the show Mountain Men, at the age of 78.

Tanning Animal Hides Increases Oar’s Net Worth

Oar has been living in the wild for quite some time, and it’s difficult to amass wealth when you live at least 50 miles from the nearest grocery shop. His role in the cast of Mountain Men, on the other hand, has helped him amass a net worth of $200,000.

He also works as a tanner for animal hides. Tanning has helped him increase his net worth by more than $4000 so far.

Everything he crafts for survival on the show is sold as goods, and the mountain man has been profiting from it, albeit in modest sums, regularly.

His Relationship With Nancy Oar, His Wife

For more than four decades, the Mountain Men star has been married to Nancy Oar. Nancy helps her husband with his day-to-day duties in Montana, where the couple lives together. They’re both from Illinois, and after he retired from the rodeo circuit, they relocated to Troy for five years to live in a hand-built log cabin.

As of now, Oar and his wife have moved to a remote area of Montana’s Yaak Valley, relying completely on the resources provided by nature. Many people assumed they would have children because of their advanced age and wonderful relationship. The pair, however, has never addressed having children, which is as bizarre as it appears. But, given his strong link with his wife, it’s unlikely that he needs any other family to enjoy his life.

With his ex-partner, he had two children

Tom has two children from a prior relationship with Jan Frazer, but not with his present wife, Nancy Oar. Chad Oar, his son, and Keeley Oar, his daughter, were born to him and his wife. However, they later split up, with Tom marrying Nancy and Jan marrying David Frazer.

Keeley Oar, Tom’s daughter, has passed away. She died on April 26, 2015, at the age of 49, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Chad is enjoying life in St. Petersburg, Florida, with his partner-in-crime, Kim Burnette. Mountain Men, a show on the History Channel, features him and his father.
