Troy Landry, an American alligator hunter, has three sons, all of whom have appeared in the television series Swamp People. While two of his younger boys are expert hunters who frequently appear alongside their father on the acclaimed reality show, Brandon, Troy’s stepson, does not. The step-son was also said to be dead, albeit this was untrue.
How did the fake news begin, despite being a death hoax? What do we know about the stepson’s background? Continue reading to learn a few interesting facts about a lesser-known Landry family member.
Troy Landry is the father of two biological sons as well as a step-son
The Cajun Tribe’s fifth-generation alligator hunter has gained notoriety because his family was chosen to feature on the History Channel’s Swamp People series. The American reality celebrity is featured on the show with the rest of his family surviving off of alligator hunting in Louisiana’s Atchafalaya River Basin.
The grizzled veteran hunter is accompanied by equally adept sons who have acquired as much renown from the show as their father, following in their father’s footsteps.
The Swam People star married Bernita Landry on September 26, 1981, and they have two boys, Chase Landry and Jacob Landry. Troy is also the stepfather to Bernita’s ex-husband Gerald Hotard’s son Brandon C. Hotard, who was born on November 2, 1976.
Only three seasons of Swamp People featured Brandon Hotard
Brandon, unlike his younger half-siblings, has not fully immersed himself in the show and their family’s alligator hunting business. The older hunter is primarily seen in the show alongside his sons, Chase and Jacob, who are the two active cast members. Brandon, on the other hand, has only appeared in a few seasons of Swamp People, appearing in the fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons.
Brandon graduated from Louisiana Technical College with a bachelor’s degree. Aside from his reality TV appearances, the step-son started working at the Conrad Shipyard in Morgan City, Louisiana, as an Estimating Manager in 2014. Brandon hasn’t appeared on Swamp People since 2014.
Brandon continues to tell stories about the Swamp People despite his departure from the family’s trade. According to Hotard’s Facebook bio, he is married to Sheli Hotard, the current Estimating Manager. Rayne, who is 18 years old, and Miley, who is 13 years old, are their two daughters.

Brandon’s death rumors are completely false
Brandon was recently the subject of a death hoax when an obituary in Brandon’s name began circulating in September 2017 with the news that “Troy Landry’s son dies.” Hotard’s abrupt departure from the show after the sixth season may have added fire to the rumor. However, it turned out to be a simple case of mistaken identity. Many people assumed the deceased was the famous Swamp King’s step-son when a person with the same name as Brandon Scott Landry was confirmed dead.
Brandon is currently residing in Berwick, Louisiana, with his family.
As a result, senior Landry has not expressed sorrow at the loss of his boys. The reality star and his wife Brenita have four beautiful granddaughters and two handsome grandsons. Riley Blake Landry, Chase Landry’s granddaughter, was born to the couple on March 18, 2017.
Troy resumes his debut on Swamp People as an alligator hunter, surrounded by his family’s devotion.
