Clifford Smith, better known as Method Man of the Wu-Tang Clan, has kept his wife, Tamika Smith, out of the spotlight for the majority of his career. The MC even kept his wife’s breast cancer diagnosis a secret.
So when Wendy Williams informed him of Tamika’s condition in 2006, he was furious. He openly chastised the TV host for discussing his wife’s cancer on broadcast.
Wendy Williams and Method Man’s Feud
Williams revealed Method Man’s spouse was sick on broadcast in 2006, and it was the first time he had done so.

The rapper publicly chastised Williams, claiming that she had no right to inform the public about Tamika’s sickness. He chastised Williams, stating she didn’t have the right to discuss it on the radio, especially because Tamika herself wanted to keep it private.
Right there, I respected her requests. Until Wendy Williams said that, no one knew anything. He expressed his displeasure with how the story was depicted, describing it as “crazy nasty and insulting” given what his wife was going through.
Williams shouldn’t have spoken about the sensitive matter, according to the record producer, especially since Tamika’s family members were unaware of her illness.
You are free to attack me in any way you see fit. You don’t insult my family man because I work in the entertainment industry. That has nothing to do with my wife… You were under no obligation to do so.
Wendy Williams claimed she and Method Man had a one-night stand
Despite the fact that Method Man and Williams’ feud is well-documented, Williams has remained silent on the subject. On January 28, 2021, she claimed she had a one-night stand with Method Man during an interview with DJ Suss One.
Maybe he’ll deny it, maybe he won’t. It wasn’t in the film because [he] is still furious with me… for being myself—for saying it like it is.
It’s unclear when the incident occurred, but some sources believe it occurred between 2001 and 2006, before Method Man slammed Williams for disclosing Tamika’s cancer fight.
Tamika, Method Man’s wife, has three children
Tamika, who is now cancer-free, prefers to keep her personal life quiet, and the only time she received high-profile media attention was when her husband attacked Williams. Method Man appears to be supportive of her wish to remain anonymous and has actively sheltered her from the press.
That isn’t to say she isn’t experienced in the entertainment world. Tamika began her career as her husband’s personal assistant. In 1999, they became engaged after falling in love. On March 3, 2001, the couple married after two years of dating.
The couple has three children together. Sha and Raekwon, their two sons, were born in 1996 and 1997, respectively, and Cheyenne, their daughter, was born in 1997. For his children, Method Man claims to have chosen privacy and caution. He discussed how his life altered after his children arrived in an interview with Essence.
He added that it was difficult to be taken seriously as a parent if people saw him high. He wanted his children’s teachers to understand how serious he was about their education and well-being.
“Because of my children, I must exercise greater discretion. This isn’t for me; everything I do these days is for them “He went on to say. He also stated that he exercised greater discretion and that he no longer “placed cannabis as a forefront.”
Needless to say, the rapper’s marriage has benefited greatly from his privacy. He and his wife are still happily married. He revealed the secret for his long-lasting romance to Jada Pinkett Smith in an appearance on Red Table Talk. “Respect comes first,” he said, telling everyone to respect their other half in order to have a happy marriage.
