Billy Eichner is an LGBTQ+ role model, channeling his true self in every interview and inspiring others all over the world to accept themselves. He claims to have known his sexual orientation since he was a child.

Eichner was well aware of his differences and saw nothing wrong with that. He was blind to homophobia as a child with a special predilection. He didn’t realize that people of different orientations could face prejudice and hostility because he grew up in New York, attended Stuyvesant High School, and lived life on his own terms.

During a 2016 interview with PBS, the Billy on the Street anchor gushed about his views on homophobia. He claimed that he was naive to such subjects as a child and that being gay was not a huge deal for him. People asking him if coming out of the closet was a purposeful decision was like asking him if being white was an intentional decision, he said.

Now that Eichner is aware of homophobia, he utilizes social media to speak out against it. In addition, the New York native battles racism and misogyny, among other social issues.

On Playing Gay Characters

Eichner has represented LGBT characters on screen as an actor. From 2015 through 2017, he starred as Billy Epstein in the Hulu series Difficult People. In the drama, his character and Todd, who was played by John Cho, had hot on-screen chemistry.

In the new show Bros, he will play a gay character for the first time. Bros are the first Universal Studios drama to include gay romance, directed by Nicholas Stoller. Eichner will be the first gay male to co-write and star in a major studio film when it is released on August 12, 2022.

The Difficult People star announced the film’s March 5, 2021 release date on Twitter and Instagram. He then criticized Hollywood’s homophobia, writing that a typical romance-defying film only takes “100 years” to make.

Eichner has always been outspoken about the persistence of homophobia in Hollywood. In 2019, he told Variety, “I hear people talking about diversity and inclusion, but I often see homosexual folks left out of those conversations.”

After his breakup with Clifton Dussancao, Andy Cohen dated John Mayer.

Is Billy Eichner in a relationship?

Eichner appears to be single at the moment. His work-focused social media sites are devoid of any indications of his relationship status. However, the 42-year-old has been linked to his college roommate Robin Taylor in the past.

In their sophomore year at Northwestern University, Eichner and Taylor met and became inseparable. They liked one other’s company when going to the mall, shopping, watching movies, and hitting gay bars.

They even stayed together after college and launched Creation Nation, a comic talk show. Robin was the director of photography for Eichner’s initial Billy on the Street videos. Many people assumed they were dating because of their friendship and the fact that they are LGBT. They are, however, merely friends and not romantic partners.
